What started out as a hobby has turned into a passion – a passion to create using steel.
My passion came into focus after I had a decade-long desire to own a well-built backyard smoker without the hefty price tags I saw when researching them online. Having a fairly extensive knowledge of what defines “well-built” by a lifetime spent in and around the construction industry, I pitched the idea to my wife of crafting one from scratch myself. With her support and after months of research, I assembled the specifications and my wish list of add-ons to build my own backyard smoker. Well, that “backyard smoker” turned into the beast of a smoker I am proud to now own and use on a regular basis for anything from family meals to larger family get-togethers and the occasional church function. I have made modifications over time to the original smoker as I try out new temperature gauges and fine-tuning the air flow for optimal burn time and smoke penetration. Everyone’s smoker or pit is different based on your environment and your preferences. You live and you learn, right?
After I built the smoker, I began designing and building other pieces of equipment and furniture. Check out my gallery for pictures and information.
In 2018, after much prayer and consideration, I started Melting Metal Fabrication to help folks like you and me own quality-built custom metal pieces and equipment at a price that makes sense.
